• What we do when no one else is looking, God see's and it's not in vain. •

"And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint."

We've all heard the term "cash register honesty" implying what we do when no one is looking.  Whether it's giving back the money to a cashier when we've been overpaid, providing comfort to those broken hearted, sitting with someone who is going through a difficult time, or giving back to one less fortunate, the self-less things we do when we think no one is looking is often seen by more people than we think and is definitely seen by God.  These acts of kindness are not in vain.

Today, what can you do to brighten someone's day, to make their load a little lighter, to bring a smile where there have been tears?  Seize opportunities that may present themselves for if no one else notices, God does and rewards those who selflessly give back to others a little bit of what they've been given.

Trust each moment of your life to God's loving care.

"Look carefully then how you walk and how your live!  Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless; but, as wise making the very most of the time you've been given."

Life comes at us fast and in so many ways, joy, sorrow, happiness and sadness.  It can be overwhelming when there is unexpected tragedy or the loss of a friend or loved loved one.  Things, we in our human minds and emotions just don't understand and often have a difficult time accepting. While I, personally do not believe that God causes bad things to happen or tragedy, I do know that I've seen Him so many times bring good on the other side of a seeming tragedy.  "All things work to the good of those who love Him."  We can take comfort in knowing His strength is available to us at all times, regardless of what we face and that He "will never leave us or forsake us."

"How many times today will we think or say, 'I wish I knew what was going to happen?' We can find contentment in the knowledge that God will take care of us, regardless of the outcome of any situation."

"The good news is that God is perfect and will not disappoint. He is always loving and good."  Today, you may be disappointed with life; but, that's not God's fault.  Don't be disappointed with God because life can seem unfair at times.  Instead take hope, gain strength and be filled with courage because the One who created you, knows every detail about you and your life.  He see's what your going through and every tear that's shed and has promised to see you through to the end!  Today, make the most of the time you've been given and let God be your strong arm if you need one---He never fails!

Keeping score keeps you bound.

" And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. "

Have you ever known someone who had held onto unforgiveness for years.  They continue to talk about it like it was yesterday when in actuality it may have happened years ago.  The other person is going on about their life; but, the person offended continues to dwell on it, talk about it and let it keep them in bondage.  I can't imagine living life that way today.  Someone may never ask for our forgiveness; but, that doesn't mean we can't go ahead forgive and be free and at peace with God about the situation.

"If someone has hurt you, don't spend the next ten years of your life hurting yourself by hanging on to that offense. Most likely, the other person isn't even thinking about you, while you dwell on the incident for years. That only hurts one person—you."

"When we walk in God's love, we find freedom by keeping 'no account' of wrongs done to us. If you're hurting from the pain of unforgiveness today, ask God to help you stop keeping score. You can let go of your bitterness today."  Today, let it go, let God, and be free!

It's never too late to be all that God has created you to be and start enjoying your everyday life to the fullest. Don't wait till it's too late!

"Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]."

"What could be worse than to come to the end of life filled with regrets? “If only I had pursued that dream. If only I had been more disciplined. If only I had taken that step of faith. If only I had forgiven.” One of the saddest things I heard at the graveside during the closure of a funeral was a grown brother staring at his sister's grave and the saying " I wish I'd told her and showed her more that I loved her---I'm not sure she knew. "  Don’t let that be you. You may have put things off a lot longer than you should have; but, the good news is that it’s not too late to get started. You can still become everything God has created you to be and that includes in your relationships with others as well.

"Let's not forget that all experiences, even the dreaded ones, are meant for our good or have something good come out of them.  We are never given more than we can handle, and we will be given a balanced set of circumstances (even though at times it doesn't seem like it).  A measure of joy will follow a period of sadness. As experience has shown, quick on the heels of the fear of loss is the realization that in the spiritual realm we're secure and all is well."

"Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully."  Today, don't let life cause you to be so excessively busy that you don't have time to be who God created you to be and lose your peace, serenity and joy ending up with regrets when you come to the end of life's road.  Do your best at the things placed before you each day to do; but, also take time to rejuvenate yourself so that you can have some fun and enjoy your life each and everyday.

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

"See that none of you repays another with evil for evil; but, always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody."

"When we think, talk and gossip about what is wrong with everyone else, we are usually deceived about our own conduct.  We should not concern ourselves with what is wrong with others when we have things wrong with ourselves."  When we judge others, we often judge them for things that hit close to home, that are the same or similar to what we also do or have done in the past.

This also can often be an attempt to take the focus off of ourselves and our own shortcomings and highlight someone else's issues, hiding behind them to minimize our own.  Re-directing the focus off of ourselves and amplifying the shortcomings of others is a sad place to be and never allows us to really look at what God is dealing with us about in our own lives.  We miss opportunities set before us in our own lives to change, be better and more of who God is shaping and molding us to be.  "It's sad; but, often true! We make excuses for our own behavior; but, when someone else does the same thing or something similar to what we do or have done in the past we are often merciless and spread it like wildfire."

Today, "reverse the process, assume or look for the best in others.  Keep your own life under the magnifying glass."   Allow God to deal with you first about your own issues and learn the spiritual Godly way of helping others grow by living a spiritual life that's attractive, drawing others to what you have by the life you live---rather than being a stumbling block in their life.  It's not my place to judge others, only myself and working to better myself to be more of the person God would have me be.  Today, less judgment, more love and tolerance leading to Godly spiritual growth and improvement in our own lives in lieu of talking about, gossiping about and trying to fix what we think is wrong with everyone else.  We can wear ourselves out trying to manipulate, control and change others; but, in reality, only God has the absolute power necessary to do so.

Are you eyes so fixed on your circumstances that you couldn't see a gift/miracle from God if it was staring you in the face?

"I choose to take my eyes off of my circumstances and set my gaze on You, God, because You are the Author and Finisher of my faith."

"Courage is the ability to strengthen ourselves, with God's help, against the fear and despair of life, rather than be drowned by it."  Do you find yourself at times overwhelmed with situations and circumstances of life so much so that you couldn't see a blessing if God was trying to hand you one on a silver platter?  Are you twisted up and at your wits end with what to do next as the answers you feel you need are not coming soon enough?  When is the last time you focused on God, His faithfulness and goodness rather than being consumed and so focused on your circumstances?

"Everything good comes from God. God is good, and He cannot be anything else. Furthermore, He isn't one way one time and another way another time. He doesn't change. He is good, and that's the way He is."  Take your eyes off the situations and circumstances that have you bound.  Turn them over to God and ask His divine guidance, protection and care.  Leave them in God's hands and let Him lift the load you've been carrying.  Remember how good God is and the times in the past He's been faithful to see you through!  "For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!"

Today, remember God readily and willingly wants to help you.  Don't let your circumstances overshadow God; but, let God and His faithfulness overshadow your circumstances!  If you will continue to do what you need to do to, be who He'd have you be and not give up on your faith, at the right time and place, you'll find God faithfully providing for your needs and seeing you through the circumstances you face often in ways you never thought possible.

Acting out of a state of emotion, physical tiredness, and spiritual weakness.

"As we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action....humbly saying to ourselves many times each day 'Thy will be done.' We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions."

One of the hardest; but, best life lessons I've learned is being disciplined with God's help to not act out of emotion especially when physical exhaustion is added to the mix.  When we are tired, we are not at our best and being physically tired can affect our emotions, feelings and how things affect or appear to us.  One of the greatest things a mentor of mine taught me is to pause during times of agitation or frustration and ask God's guidance.  Wait and see if in 24-48 hours I feel the same and after prayer and some rest, if necessary approach the situation with God's help.  Words spoken and actions taken immediately based on emotion and physical exhaustion often lead to the harming of relationships, things being said that are not necessary and an amends needed after the occurrence.  Often after some rest, prayer and the clearing of our mind and emotions we feel entirely different about a situation and are more apt to handle it with care and no harm done.

If you find yourself agitated in a state of emotion and physical exhaustion,  pause and ask God's guidance.  Step away from the situation and come back to it after you've taken care of yourself and sought God.  Before you speak ask yourself:  It is true? Is it helpful?  Does it inspire confidence?  Is it necessary?  Is it kind?  Is it any of my business?  Is it better left unsaid?

Today, as you take care of yourself spiritually and physically, let God direct your thoughts and emotions and as you pause when agitated may you find the divine direction to handle situations in a Godly fashion and blessed for taking the higher road and being who He'd have you be.  Today, remember, with God's help you don't have to attend every fight or argument you're are invited to.  God is on your side and if you'll let Him, can work out the little frustrations of life in ways you never thought possible, if, you let Him.

Right thoughts equal right words, actions and deeds

"Do not be conformed to this world; but, be transformed by the renewal of your mind so that you may prove what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God."

We've all likely heard the phrase "garbage in, garbage out".  Whether its a bad tank of gas you put in your car that makes it run and perform terrible and maybe even makes it breakdown or putting food into your stomach that has expired causing you to have stomach upset or worse, food poisoning.  The list goes on and on.

Just as it is with these common sense things, so it is with our thoughts, our mind, words, actions and deeds.  Negative thoughts and negative mindsets affect our lives and how we live them.  When we let God renew our minds daily as we spend time with Him and ask for His protection, care and direction "our thought life will placed be on a much higher plain when our thinking is cleared of wrong motives."  God wants to renew our minds so that right thoughts will lead to right words, actions and results.

Where is your mind?  Are you asking and allowing God to direct your thinking?  Will you allow God to renew your mind so that you can be all He'd have you be or is your mind and thinking always in the gutter?  Today, allow God to renew and transform your mind and thinking so that you can be your best, live your best life, with the best attitude ultimately acquiring the best results God has in store.  Today. remember, right thoughts lead to right words, actions and produce right results, helping us be a little more of who God would have us be each day.

Following God's Compass of Peace in Your Heart

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts."  "God’s Spirit knows our thoughts.  His Spirit lives inside of us, revealing to us the heart and thoughts of God Himself, directing us in the way we should go, the decisions we should make and the things we should do, not do, be apart of or not be apart of."

"God leads His people through peace. Any time you lose your peace you are hearing from God."  Make an assessment of what you're about to do, the decision you're about to make and ask for "knowledge of His will and the power to carry it out".  God is ready and willing to guide you in the right direction.  "Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

When you follow God's lead, you will never go wrong and He'll never lead you astray.    People who do things they don’t have peace about live miserable lives and often don’t succeed at anything, many times left with a mess to clean up after following their own will instead of God's direction.

Today, remember "there is nothing more powerful than the compass of God's peace in your heart. Follow after it.  Follow peace" and you will never go wrong and you'll continue walking in the fullness and goodness of what God has in store for you!

Overdoing it, when we need to "just be"

" But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses ... "

I remember a time in my life about a year and a half ago I was overwhelmed with doing.  From 5 am in the morning to have quiet time with God, working full time and up till midnight, helping and giving back to others God had put in my life, what had been so freely given to me.  That didn't include the time I was trying to work in for my kids and family as well and all the traveling to do so.  I was tired, worn down, and loosing my effectiveness; but couldn't see it and wouldn't admit it.  I had people close to me, one after the other ask me if I was taking time to take care of myself and rejuvenate.  "Of course." I'd reply.

Then one day while having lunch with my mother, she looked at me in a staring kind of way across the lunch table.   I asked her why she was looking at me with such a strong stare and she replied, "Dwight, you look exhausted.  Are you doing to much and not taking care of yourself and getting enough rest?"  I gave her the same answer.  This was the 5th person God had put in my path to deliver the same message.  Maybe it was time to look at this.  I began to pray and seek God and ask Him to show me how to find balance and if it was His will, to clean my plate (my responsibilities) to what He'd have them be.  Within 48 hours of praying this prayer my obligations and commitments shrunk tremendously.  I suddenly had time on my hands, was no longer on the run from sunup to midnight.  I had alone time and was actually on with it.  I had more time to seek God.  Time to do things that had been put off.  Time to take care of myself and rejuvenate.

I learned, it's not about all the doing for God; but also about the being and taking care of ourselves as well.  It's not about the quantity and saying yes to every obligation that pleases the Father's heart; but, about the quality of service when we do serve Him and help others. More doing doesn't make us more of a child of God or gift us with more grace and If your not taking time to rejuvenate and take care of yourself, keeping your own house in order, literally and spiritually, how can you effectively help others and be who you need to be in their life, if you yourself are not at your best and don't have order in your own life?  Does your outside life look polished up; but, due to burning the candle at both ends, your insides a wreck and your home in disarray?  It's better to do one thing well for God than to do a bunch of things in His name and none of them be of quality service or effective---just going through the motions to be able to say you did it.

Today, let God take you from doing to being and show you the excess things you need to cut out of your life and say no to.  You can't be all things to all people.   I had to learn that it was OK to say no, in order to take care of myself.  Everyone didn't necessarily understand and some quite frankly didn't like it and talked negatively about me; but, God understood and ultimately He's who I answer to.  Today,  let "God teach you to slow down. Teach you to listen. Teach you to hear His whispers as well as His yells."  Today, ask God to show you to how to be ok to "just be" when it's necessary and reap the benefits of doing so and taking care of yourself so that when the time comes for you to be of service, you can do it with absolute effectiveness.

An inside job that affects the outside for the better.

" Change is good " and  " If nothing changes, nothing changes! "

We've all seen it.  People go into places of worship on a regular basis or claim to know God; but, when they leave or go on about their weekly routine it's like they leave God and nothing ever changes in their lives.  The way they carry themselves, the words that come out of their mouth and even the way they treat others.  Then there are others who we've seen their lives radically changed as a result of their spiritual relationship with God.  They carry themselves differently, their desires and interest change, the things that come out of their mouth are improved and they treat others better.

When we come to sincerely know God, it's usually followed by change---for the better.  God desires to shape and mold is into who He'd have us be for the better. The old is passed away and all things, by His grace, have become new.  Some of the best things that have happened to me since I came into a relationship with God are the by-products.  My desires changed, my words cleaned up, negativity disappeared and I treat people differently and better than I used to, loving my neighbor as myself.  I live each day anticipating and expecting what God's gonna do in my life.  I sense His closeness and hand upon my life.

Are you going through the motions or are you allowing God to do a work in your life to become more each day who He'd have you be?  Today, in allowing God to change and mold you, may you find His promises coming true in your life and find Him faithfully seeing you through life's challenges and taking you to the better things and places He has in store.  Today, let God shape and mold you into a better you as you let the inside job affect the outside and every aspect of your life for the better!

Expectations. " If only..." I'd be happy.

"When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.  Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed."

Expectations.  We deal with them everyday.  If only certain people would act a certain way or if only certain situations would work out the way we wanted, we'd be happy.  The list can go on and on and on..."if only...".

God wants us to rely on Him for our true happiness.  People constantly place expectations on others or things external for their happiness and are often disappointed.  We decide our own happiness, it's an inside job, a way of life, a dependence on God that no person, place or thing will ever fill.  If you want to continue to be unhappy, just continue placing expectations on others and relying on people or things to make you happy.  You will be disappointed and let down.

"A lot of people aren't happy unless a certain person behaves a certain way, or unless a certain situation works out just the way they want it to. Every day we let our happiness depend on other people and situations, when in reality, God wants us to find our happiness in Him.  There are so many ways that we put unrealistic expectations on people and rely on them to keep us happy. God wants us to look to Him first and rely on Him for our happiness."

Today, remember where true happiness comes from and "if only" you'll rely on God more than man for true happiness you'll be sure to find it along the way!

Whom or what shall I fear?

"God is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? God is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid."

FEAR:  "False Evidence Appearing real."  FAITH:  "Fear Ain't In This House."  What do you fear today? The loss of a job.  A medical report.  The loss of a loved one and how your gonna go on without them.  Your bank statement that says your not gonna be able to make it through without losing something.  Maybe it's a shaky marriage or relationship.  Have you ever thought that God may have better things in store than where you or your loved ones are in any of these areas today and if so, it's gonna require some change and transition for it to come to pass?

God is not surprised by any of the things we are dealing with or that face us.  He's aware of every detail going on in our life and He's ready, willing and able to care for us IF we allow Him.  In a minute God can turn things around on your behalf.  "You have not cause you ask not."   Although He see's where we are, He desires communion with us and wants us to make known to Him our needs, wants, desires, dreams and seek His will, guidance and divine protection in our lives.

" Anything forced into manifestation through personal will is always 'ill got' and has 'ever bad success.' "  So will you trust God and seek His inner voice that guides you to get you through or force things to happen on your own will, demands, ego and timing?   If you choose the later, you are setting yourself up for hurt, disappointment and the potential of hurting others.  A train wreck waiting to happen.

God is still on the throne---the one who has all power!  He's got your back and wants to see you through to better days.  Today, let faith replace your fear and let God take you to the better things He has in store for your life.  Let Him be your foundation---your solid rock!  Today, No Fear, only Faith!  Today God's will, not mine!

Self pity is not our friend

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

No where in the verse above to I read anything but positivity, God having good plans for us with a future and a hope.  Have you given up on hope today and given into self pity?  "When we allow ourselves to fall into self-pity, we are essentially rejecting God's love and His ability to change things."

"I encourage you not to waste one more day of your life in self-pity. When you lose hope and begin to feel sorry for yourself, stop and say: 'I refuse to feel sorry for myself. I may be in a difficult season of life right now, but I will not stop hoping for better things!'"

Today remember, "God has thoughts and plans for your good, to give you hope for your future. If you will hold on to your hope and fight for it when the enemy tries to take it away, you will see amazing things take place in your life."

Accepting things I cannot change---changing things I can.

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

Many live stressed out lives over things big and small they can't change.  Getting stressed over a flat tire, being stuck in traffic or even bigger things in life like what people say or do does nothing but bring us more stress.  When we accept the frustrations that come and with God's help remain calm, we are doing ourselves, our health and those around us a huge favor.  "How you react to things you can't control helps determine your stress level and quality of health. People who regularly get upset over things suffer in many ways."

"Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully."

"If you trust Him to work things out, you'll navigate the dips of life with barely a blip."  Today "do what you can, but don't get upset about what is beyond your control. Do your best, pray, and God will do the rest!"

Friday, August 16, 2013

God's strength is with you!

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control."

When we have a relationship with God, we have His power working and available to help us.  We are never alone.  When we rely on Him for help we don't tire so easily; but, when we try to do everything our way and based on our own power we can easily find ourselves exhausted.

"The strength of God's spirit is always available to the tired mind and body. He is your physician and your healer. Look to these quiet times of communion with God for rest, for peace, for cure. Then rise refreshed in spirit and go out to work, knowing that your strength is able to meet any problems because it is reinforced by God's power."

You may be saying today, "How much more God can I deal with" as life has seemingly sent back to back challenges your way.  Don't let yourself get in a mindset that nothing good happens in your life or begin fearing impending doom of what's next.  Today, take heart in knowing God's got you & the things that your going through.   Rely on His strength to see you through whatever you may be facing.  Remember, He has promised to never leave or forsake you.  Today let Him give you the strength to make it through!

You are for me !

"So faithful.  So constant.  So loving and so true.  So powerful in all You do.  You fill me.  You see me. You know my every move.  You love for me to sing to You.

I know that You are for me.  I know that You are for me.  I know that You will never, forsake me in my weakness.  I know that You have come down.  Even if to ride upon my heart.  To remind me who You are.

So patient.  So gracious.  So merciful and true.  So wonderful in all You do.  You fill me.  You see me.  You know my every move.  You love for me to sing to You.

And Lord, I know that You are for me.  I know that You are for me.  I know that You will never, forsake me in my weakness.  And I know that You have come down.  Even if to ride upon my heart.  To remind me who you are."

Today, take heart in knowing Almighty God is for you!  Believe it, conceive it, receive it and let His love rain down on you and fill you a fresh and a new with His spirit.  Let Him refresh you and take you to the greater places and things He has in store for your life!

Abundant life

" I have came that they may have life and have it more abundantly. "

"We should have life and have it more abundantly - spiritual, mental, physical, abundant life - joyous, powerful life. These we can have if we follow the right way. Not all people will accept from God the gift of an abundant life, a gift held out free to all. Not all people care to stretch out a hand and take it. People often turn away from it, reject it, and will have none of it. Do not let this be true of you."

Abundant life.  Are you living it?  Regardless of how things are in and around you, are living the abundant life God desires of you? Do you murmur over having to clean the house or mow the lawn or are you grateful that God's provided a home for you?  Do you complain over cleaning the car or are you grateful for the transportation God's provided?  Do you complain about the job you have or do you give thanks to God for having a job that helps you pay the bills and for the health and ability to go to work every day.

We all have areas in our life that we are trusting God for.  Maybe it's a breakthrough in a promotion or a new job.  Maybe it's a breakthrough in a ministry or outreach God's placed on your heart.  God wants us each to life and enjoy life to the fullest---to have life and have it more abundantly.  We all have things we could complain about; but, will you complain or be grateful?

Today, may you live and accept the abundant life God has for you and find more of it each day as you continue to be more of who He'd have you be and as you give thanks with a grateful heart for what He's provided!

According to your Faith

"...According to your faith be it done to you.”

"A lot of times when people have a need, they think that if God wanted to, He would just automatically meet it. The verse above doesn't say according to your need be it unto you; but, according to your faith. That’s why it’s so important to have an attitude of expectancy every single day. If we want God to move in our lives, we have to approach every day filled with faith and hope."

Today, "God longs to bless you, and He’s given you everything you need to be successful in life. All things are possible to those who believe! Believe in His goodness today and according to your faith, be it done for you! "

Do you really love God or just when it makes you look good or sound good?

"Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence (heart, soul, mind and strength) and love your neighbor as well as you do yourself.”

Do you love God with your very being or do you just
when you need something in a pinch?  Do you just talk about God when it makes you look good and don't when you feel like those around would judge you?  Does it show in how you treat others?  We are told to love God with our everything --- heart, should mind and strength.  Those we love, we tend to talk about!

"When you surrender everything to the Lord, it opens the door for Him to move on your behalf. Today, surrender all to Him and ask for whatever you need. Love Him and Let Him pour out His favor and blessing on every area of your life."

To worried to care

"Cast your cares on Him for He cares for you."

"To thine own heart be true," remains a relevant life lesson that all of us would do well to remember. When we veer off the course that God in our heart is advising us to follow, we can make our lives very difficult.

God has a greater purpose for each of our lives; but, some people have too many cares and worries that keep them side tracked and de-focused from stepping out and following what God's placed in their heart. They've decided it's out of their reach.  Their worry keeps them bound up and from fulfilling the greater purpose God desires for their life.

God longs to take care of your cares and concerns.  All you need to do is ask.  Also, if you reach beyond your own situation, bring God's love to others and do something selfless for someone else, the circumstances you face will fade away and disappear.  You'll experience the wondrous joy of making a difference where it counts---in the lives of others.

Let God take care of your worries and cares and follow His lead as He guides you in your heart. You can trust Him. He cares for you and He will never lead you astray; but, promises to lead you into better things if you will trust Him and follow your God conscious within.  Today, trade your worries, sorrows and tears for the joy of the Lord and the greater purpose He has for you life.  Let your faith soar, replacing the worry in your life, and begin to experience the good things God has in store.

Do you have time for God? What if He didn't have time for you?

"Time spent with Me not only increases your trust; it also helps you discern what is important and what is not."

A few years ago I quickly learned the importance of spending time with God in the morning each day as I start my day.  It strengthens my relationship with Him, it helps get my thoughts going in the right direction and it helps me suit up spiritually for whatever the day may bring.  It also shows God that I value my relationship with Him by spending time in prayer and meditation with Him each day.

So many times its easy to wake up rushed, jump in the shower and be out the door to work or wherever our commitments take us; but, if we haven't taken some time to make a sincere conscious contact with God, and asked His help, protection, care and guidance, are we technically going it on our own and sending God a message that we don't need Him and time with Him is not of value in our lives?

Today, in making time to have time alone with God, may you find yourself strengthened from the inside out.  May you sense God's presence with you and feel Him guiding you, directing your thoughts and actions and giving you the strength and guidance you need to be a little more of who He'd have you be than you were the day before.

Challenge or Opportunity for Growth

God can use every challenge that comes into our lives as an opportunity for growth.  Trials test our character and help shape our faith.

Understanding often only comes after walking through an experience.  Today, are you facing a challenge or an opportunity for growth?  As God see's you through the twists and turns of daily life, may you find greater purpose in each opportunity you walk through and God faithfully seeing you through, providing growth on the other side.

All things

" I can do all things through Him who gives me strength. "

All things.  Have you ever really thought about the depth of what this means?  " All things " means anything we may face, have to walk through or even may not feel on our own human strength, training and education we are capable of doing.

Today, as you walk hand in hand with your Creator remember that with His power working in you and on your behalf that you can do whatever it is that's placed before you as long as you are relying on Him to give you the strength to do so.  Remember nothing is to big or hard for God or for Him to help you with.

" If you ask for help, God will take care of the battle. "

"You can simplify your life by learning to develop trust in God. It's easy to get stressed out and run-down trying to make your life work on your own, but that never works. God's plan is always better than your own.

Now trust won't just magically happen. Trust grows as we take steps of faith and experience God's faithfulness.  When you do that, you won't have to struggle so much to make your life work.

Trusting God brings a supernatural rest to our souls, allowing us to live simply and freely, the way He wants us to live. So even when it doesn't make sense, trust Him, and experience His freedom and rest. "

Today even if all you can pray is "God help", He will hear your cry and attend to your needs if you will trust Him to do so!

New beginnings

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”

"The sun comes up its a new day dawning." Each day is a new day that we have a new opportunity to be a little better than the day before.  Often people don't look at change, closed doors, the end of a job or a relationship as a new beginning---they get stuck in it being the end.

We've all heard the words "when one door closes another opens."  I've experienced this so many times in my life.  The end of one thing led to a new beginning of something new, better, a new opportunity, a new chapter in my life.  With each new beginning we should be excited, anticipating what good things God has in store, instead of being bound up in the end of something.  As things come to an end, doors close, we should be excited about what God has in store for the new chapter in our lives.

Today, may the end of one thing not leave you stuck at the end; but, instead, looking forward to and anticipating the good things God has in store for your new day today, your tomorrow and your future.  Today, remember the end often just means that God has a new beginning in store for something better in your life!  Thanks God!

Beauty for Ashes

" When we let God take our messes and turn them into miracles, the Father has the ability to use our mistakes for our good if we will only trust Him. "

Today let God give you beauty from the ashes of your past and take you to places you never dreamed possible!

Perfect Love

"And we know and believe the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him."

I saw a segment on TV recently where a brother and sister had been killed in a car accident.  The driver of the vehicle had been drinking and was 3 times over the legal limit and lived.  She refused to admit she was at fault and proclaimed her innocence. She was later found guilty of manslaughter; but, refused to take ownership for her actions.

The day she was sentenced the family of the ones killed in the wreck asked to speak.  They stood before her, the judge and jury and gave a powerful speech.  Ultimately with God's help and because of God's love, they forgave this girl who took their loved one's lives and they made it known in the court room where people gasp, shed tears and were in awe as they spoke.  It was an amazing story that left me thinking, would I be able to do that if I were in that situation?

God's love changes us and our whole outlook on life, circumstances, people, and the challenges that come our way.  If we are living in God's grace shouldn't we bestow that on others?  As we come into an understanding of God's love for us, we "learn to love the unlovable. It's when you love people who don't love you back, when you love people who irritate you, when you love people who stab you in the back or gossip about you"...or cause tragedy and harm against you.  It's loving without a price tag.

"When you realize how much God loves you - with an extravagant, irresistible, unconditional love - then his love will change your entire focus on life."  Today, may realizing how much God loves you free you to love and forgive others without a price tag and experience the freedom that comes in doing so!

The Power of an Attitude of Faith

" Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. "

"The favor of God comes in the midst of life's challenges.  When you are going through tough times, even if your situation looks impossible, stay in an attitude of faith, start declaring God's favor instead of being discouraged and developing a sour attitude.  One touch of God's favor can turn everything around in your life."

Today, remember God's plans for you are good, to prosper you, and give you a future and a hope!
