Stand !

Temptations, trials, and the challenges of life allow God to bring attention to areas of weakness in our lives so that we can press in and work to overcome them and do some "fine tuning".  Maturity (spiritual and overall) comes through trials and the challenges life brings, producing character and helping shape our Faith.

Today, be determined and patient to stand up under temptation, trials, and the challenges life may bring---by the Grace of God.  Not only will it put you one step closer to becoming who He would have you be; but, it will also advance you a littler closer to the greater purpose and incredible things He has in store for your life.

His will. His way. His Peace. No Fear.

"I take it that what all men are really after is some form of, perhaps only some formula of, peace."   —James Conrad

When snow drifts quietly down on a winter evening, the hush of nature brings a great sense of peace. Each of us has known times like this. Many of these times did not depend on conditions like snow, or soft music. When we are able to keep a quiet center within ourselves, we are truly in tune with God's spirit. Peace of the heart comes from Him and from the faith that all of us, and all that happens to us, are part of a greater plan.

Just as the snow falls softly, without fear, without regard for whether it will land on a tree bough or in the street, we, too, can live our lives with peaceful acceptance and without fear knowing that when we continue to surrender our will and lives to Him, He carefully and eloquently unfolds His blue print and greater plan for our lives naturally for greater purpose and fulfillment of His will not our own.

Today, God help me be prepared to accept wherever you will have me land today knowing my life is in your hands and you have a greater purpose and plan for my life.  I'm trusting my life to You with faith and anticipation that you have great things in store.  Your will.  Your way.  Your Peace.  No Fear.

What if we kept the Christmas Spirit all year long?

Most of us begin making preps for Christmas sometime before it actually arrives.  Shopping, trimming the tree, and all the things we do leading up to the big day.  Seems for the most part, peoples moods are improved, there are smiles, laughter, and a lot of joy that come anticipating and in celebrating the season.

Over the past couple of days as I've been celebrating with my family, I've observed especially the children; but, even with the adults what an exciting time of year it is.  The smiles, the joy, the excitement and anticipation of what's inside the gifts as the little ones literally rip them apart.  The adults, enjoying good meals, catching up on things when it's been a while since they've seen each other and joking about funny memories growing up or recent events.

Yesterday as we were celebrating at mom's, I was noticing our new little man "J" open his gifts.  He was filled with excitement!  He didn't know which to open next, whether to play with the toy he'd just opened or move on to the next.  What a joy to see the smiles, laughter, excitement and just the light heartedness about him.

What would it be like, if we kept the spirit of Christmas active throughout the year?  Thinking of special things we could do for each other.  Placing others first over ourselves.  Making every moment together special?  What if we treated others with the same kindness throughout the year, that we do at Christmas?  I've heard a lot recently about paying things forward during the holidays.  Why do we have to wait, what if we did it throughout the year?

This holiday season, as you celebrate Christmas, spend time with friends and family, give thanks for what you have to be grateful for, remember why we celebrate the season, and begin to move into 2013, let the Christmas spirit continue with you into 2013.  We shouldn't have to wait to only be kind, thoughtful of others, give gifts, pay things forward, or give thanks until the end of each year.  What a difference it would make in our lives and the lives of others if we carried the spirit of Christmas with us throughout the coming year!  In 2013, I challenge you to be willing to make a difference in the lives of others throughout the year with random acts of kindness and paying things forward.  Make every moment count and enjoy those special times together throughout the year, not just at year end!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my family and friends.  May God's peace be with you during this special time of year!  Peace & Love!  D.

Broken; but, not beyond repair!

When I came to God in a spirit of brokenness a few years ago, looking back, something beautiful began to happen. God forgave my shortcomings by His grace & he began to pickup the pieces of a broken life, a broken man, a broken vessel & began to repair, restore & renew my mind, body & spirit.

You may to at some points in your life have felt broken beyond repair. You may feel that way today. God specializes in taken the broken & making masterpieces out of them.

I am far from perfection today. I've fallen short even this week in the areas of patience, tolerance, acceptance and restraint of tongue & pen. The good news is that it's not the end; but, yet another new beginning. A life lesson learned walking through the experiences to help me be better in the future. God forgave me as did those I made amends to and I pickup now & move forward not defeated or beating myself up; but, motivated to be better going forward---understanding after the experiences.

Today, no matter what your going through in life, where you are, what you've done or how many times you've failed, your not broken beyond repair, regardless of how many pieces you feel your life is in. When you get your heart right, God can take the pieces of a broken life & make something beautiful out of them. Today, will you let Him? Coming to Him in a spirit of brokenness is a sign of surrender. Handing Him the prices of a broken life & accepting His forgiveness allow us to have that fresh start, by His grace, where He begins the construction phase of restoration and healing.

Today my friend take heart in knowing your not broken beyond repair. Give God your brokenness and the shattered pieces of your life & take heart in knowing that He can make something beautiful out of your life, if, you'll let Him.

An order of God's will with a side of self-will.

Have you every had times where you desired both God's will; but yet, deep down, you wanted your will or something to go your way as well.  What if it's not God's best for your life?  What if God in saying "" is doing it for your best?  What if up the road ahead, in which you can't see clearly what's coming, He has something much better in store?  Will you limit God today and His best for your life by choosing self-will over His when He says "no".   Will you take a side of self-will, keeping it as a back-up plan, if you don't like God's overall plan?

"In God's plan for us, we cannot skip steps that we don't like and move on to the other ones.  We cannot skip the hard steps or the one's that require sacrifice.  Following God's plan for our lives requires investment.  We must sacrifice self-will to have God's will.  We must often sacrifice our way to find His way.  Don't be afraid to sacrifice---it eventually sets us free to be all God desires us to be."

"If God showed us how high the mountain really is that He wants us to climb, we might be afraid to take the first step.  We might argue that we're not ready, that we're not prepared to go all the way to the top.  Often all we can see is the step before us, it looks manageable, so we step out in faith and take it.  Then we take another and another, until one day we find ourselves on top of the mountain without even realizing where we where headed when we began.  Then we are very glad we took the journey."  We begin to see the greater purpose He had in store.  Our faith is increased, and we realize that we can truly trust God more with our lives and what's best of us.

Often we don't see the entire staircase, or the top of the mountain; but God is asking us to take the first step and trust Him to fulfill His greater plan.  Today, will you step out in faith and take the steps He's placed in front of you, even if they require faith, even if you don't know exactly where God's leading, or will stay with what's familiar, with self-will that's often familiar yet painful, hesitant to trust God.  If He's truly got your best purpose in mind, He's got your back, and He's placed a step before you, take the step in faith and trust that He's gonna lead you where you need to go, get you to the right places, take care of you and fulfill the greater purpose He has for your life and take you to places you never thought possible.

God did not create you to live a life of CONDEMNATION!

"As a man thinks in His heart, so shall He be."

I am living proof that God did not create us to live a life of condemnation, negativity, or to let morbid reflection of past mistakes keep us from being the best God would have us be---happy joyous and free.

A few years ago, I had to start over from ground zero.  Many who read my post today either having known me in the past and seeing my decline that brought me to my knees at the worst point of my life, or those who have known me since the beginning of the new life I live---seeing God turn my life around, may read my post each day and wonder, who is this guy?  Several years ago, I had reached a low place in my life where I was spiritually bankrupt.  I didn't know if God loved me or if He was even there to hear my prayers anymore.  I felt each day as I made my new beginning that my prayers bounced from the ceiling; but I kept doing it because I was assured by others that it would get better.  I lived life often feeling condemned and that life would never get better. Little did I know the things that God had in store and where He would take me as I gradually made my ascent into the spiritual awakening He's brought in my life.  I didn't get to where I am today spiritually overnight.  It's been a process, ongoing, daily, doing things to take care of myself spiritually because it was suggested and I wanted my life to get better, so I did it, even when I didn't feel anything.

Who could have faith such as this?  Who could believe in something they cannot see?  There may even be those who think as they read my daily post, that I live on a spiritual hilltop looking down on my fellowman in a manner of judgment or thinking I'm better than.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, "that guy is far out there", "that guy is a fake", "there can't be anyway anyone can have a relationship with God like that."  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  My validation doesn't come from the opinions of others; but, from God.  The people closest to me, know the life I live, the truth behind what I write about, how I live in my life, and they know it's real.

Where I am today versus where I was over 2 years ago is a complete 180, all because of a lot of help from God, and a little work from me.  A series of poor choices, and looking for something in life other than God to fill the void in my life, led to a rapid decline.   Those who once knew me, didn't recognize me and couldn't believe the person I'd become.  The person I've become today, didn't transform overnight, it's been a process and a journey.  I kept going, kept pushing, kept doing the work, and today, God gets the glory for the transformation in my life.

My friend, the good things that have happened for me, and the spiritual awakening and relationship I have with God is available to you as well.  You may feel condemned and there's no hope today; but your wrong.  Take it a step at a time.  Give God a chance to work in your life, and little by little, you too can see change happen in your life that's happened for me.  God take you to places you never dreamed, IF, you'll let him.

My posts and blogs each day are not meant to offend, leave the opinion that I'm better than anyone, that I have something that no one else can acquire, that I live on spiritual hilltop looking down on my fellowman; but, to inspire hope, thought provoking ideas, to help people see if a life like mine can turn around with God's help, it can happen for you too.

My friend in closing today, I want to leave you with this.  GOD DID NOT CREATE US TO LIVE A CONDEMNED LIFE; but wants us to live happy, joyous, and free.  God's grace is enough to make a new beginning.  My validation today doesn't come from the opinions of others; but in my relationship with God.  Yes I value the relationships I have in my life; but, my the rock on which I'm planted is not in the those friendships; but in my validation with my Creator.  Love me or hate me, I'm no longer prey to misery and depression, I can make a living, I can have true good solid relationships with others, and God makes that possible.  At the end of the day, who I am, my sense of self worth, my character and my validation are not based on man; but God.

Today, you may have made some mistakes along the way.  You may seem light years away from any kind of relationship from God.  You may feel that because of your past, you could never have a relationship with God---THAT'S A LIE.  God's grace freely flows and if He can turn around a guy like me to become who I am today, He can definitely change your life as well.

Today, will you continue living a life of condemnation, miserable, and depressed, or will you step out in faith and grab hold to God's grace and forgiveness and let Him give you a fresh start, a new beginning, and take you to the better places and greater purpose He has for your life?  Today, is a perfect day to make a fresh start, put the past behind, stop living condemned, a life of people pleasing and a life of looking for validation in the wrong places.  Today, is the perfect day for you to allow God to fill the void in your life, set you free and take you to the greater places and purpose He so desires for your life!   My friend, start living your best life now----TODAY and you too can begin to experience all the GREAT things God has in store for your life!

How are you using your words today?

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing God."

This time of year in the job I have, we deal with clients in all types of emotional states.  Words used in a state of crisis are critical to desensitizing a situation and providing hope to those in need and ultimately turning around a situation that could be deadly into a situation where hope is provided and a client is gifted with the the hope needed to carry on with encouragement.

So it is with life.  The words we speak each day, words used with friends, family, co-workers, etc., are powerful.  We have the ability to build up or tear down in a just a short quick second.  We can edify or we can character assassinate and make someone feel worse.

I'm grateful that God has turned a person like me, one who had become a cold hearted, numb,  shell of a person with zero compassion, into a person who lives, breathes, and experiences life with greater purpose, meaning and can feel compassion for others today.  Each day, regardless of the setting, we all have an opportunity by the power of our words, to build up, or tear down.  What do you think God would have you do?

I have come to realize over the course of the past few years how powerful words can be.  How they encourage or damage, how they can provide hope or dismay, how they can help calm the storms in someone else's life or worsen them, how they can provide encouragement for the hurting or break the heart of a loved one or friend.

Today, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to God and match the heart of compassion He's given me for others.  Today, make a decision to build others up instead of  tearing them down.  Focus more on loving people than proving your point, after all, everyone has an opinion, and is yours really so important that proving it to the person standing before you is more important than simply showing them at the end of the day---you care!

"Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace ... that where there is despair, I may bring hope."

Push, pull, drag, or tow....Today, trade the things you can't control for God's true peace & serenity!

There are so many things in life that we have no control over.   Instead of stressing over things you can't change or control, trade them into to God for His peace that passeth all understanding.  Today, let Him take care of all that concerns you.  Let Him go before you and make your paths straight and in doing so find yourself enjoying the many benefits of true peace and serenity that follow complete and utter surrender to God.

You are equipped with everything you need. Will you use it or lose it today?

God has equipped you with everything you need to fulfill the greater purpose He has for your life.  Then....there's that "free will" thing.  We all have a choice of how we use our free will, to become a little more of who God would have us be each day, or to go it our own self-driven way, making choices that can lead us into old behaviors, lifestyles and destruction.  After sometime of acting in those old behaviors and half-way seeking God, we can become oblivious to the fact that it's not OK.  As we begin to take spiritual hits, we can tend to think our old behaviors are OK and become numb to the guidance of the sunlight of His spirit and vastly experience a decline in the radar and awareness of our internal GPS or God conscious that keeps us on course making right decisions.

Today, are you living a life of half measures in your relationship with God?  Half you, half God, half way doing what you want to do and what's not God's best for you and half way what you know He'd have you do?  Are you all in?  If not, your on a slippery slope of destruction my friend.

"Half measures availed us nothing, we stood at the turning point, we asked His protection and care with complete abandon ....

...we couldn't manage our lives human power could
...God could and would if He were sought."

Are you half way in, half way out or wholly seeking Him?  The results will be evident in your life of whether He's truly everything or nothing at all to you.  Are you seeking His understanding, His wisdom, His peace and serenity, and walking into the greater purpose for your life?

"Don't just live on the surface of life today.  Be a person of understanding and draw from the resources that God has placed on the inside of you.  As you keep your heart open by obeying God, His purposes will become clearer, His promises will become true and you will live in the abundant life God has in store for you!"

What are you running from?

Problems, we all have them.  Scars, we all have them over the course of our lives.  Wounds, some of us have them so deeply seeded, they seem impossible to heal.  Many times in life, I've tried to run from my problems, scars, wounds or something I didn't want to deal with and regardless of a geographical relocation, a movement to a new home, a new job and being a workaholic, wherever I ran, the problem always greeted me at the new place in which I ran.

What are you running from?  Maybe you've been victimized in childhood and you've held that for years, not sure where to turn or how to deal with it.  Maybe you've had trauma in your life, that you've held close to your heart feeling that you'd be judged for talking about it, or trying to get help to overcome the pain it's caused, so you've continued to suppress it, pretending it away.  Maybe you been dishonest in a situation, and fear the consequences to straighten out the mess you created.  Maybe you've tried for years to overcome an addiction---drugs, alcohol, porn, sex, gambling, excessive spending, etc. and you alone on your own power, haven't been able to overcome---so you continue to run.  You see life passing you by, you see others amounting to something in their lives (wishing the same for you), fulfilling their God given purposes, helping others; but, you can't seem to get past the barriers that keep you from continuing in the old behaviors, and you continue to run, from one place to another, from the arms of one person to another, from one job to another, from one college curriculum to another, running away and running to all the things that can never fix the true problem at hand and bring healing over the things you're running from.  For years, I've seen people live like hell during the week, running, and suit up on Sunday for church and pretend everything's ok; but, when Monday rolls around, it's back to the same antics.  It's using God's grace as an excuse to act in old behaviors instead of a using His grace gratefully as a reason to be better.  It's continuing to run.

"When a person has a shame-based nature, it becomes the source or root of many complex inner problems, like depression, loneliness, isolation and alienation   All kinds of compulsive disorders are rooted in shame:  drug, alcohol and other chemical addictions; eating disorders like bulimia, anorexia, and obesity; money addictions, gambling, sexual perversions of all kinds---the list is endless."

Today, I'm here to tell you my friend, you don't have to run anymore.  God's grace is sufficient to see you through whatever it is that you continue to run from, the things that continue to hinder you from being the best He'd have you be.  The things that are blocking you from His greater purpose.  God has healing for you and a greater plan for your life, and if you could see it now, you would be amazed at the things He has in store; but, you will never get to see it unfold if you continue to run.  We don't get to see God's blue print so we push through a day at a time with His help to be over-comers of the things that work against us, trying to defeat us, and instead run to Him, walking daily a little closer into becoming who He'd have us be and into the greater purpose for our life as He works to provide healing in our lives and place the right people around us to help us overcome the pain, scars, wounds and things we've ran from in our past.

Today, let faith arise in your life.  Will you continue to run, or will you be an over-comer?  Will you allow God to turn the mess of your life around into a message to help others?  Will your's become a story or redemption or a story of sad defeat as your eulogy is read at your funeral?   If God woke you up this morning, He still has a plan for your life.  He's not given up on you.  If your reading this message, you have another chance to do today a little better than before and to stop the insanity of running and continuing to do the same things over and over expecting different results.  Cooperate with God daily to develop your life potential.  It doesn't matter if a thousand people tell you that you have potential, until you grasp hold of that God given potential and let God take you there, your gonna remain in the same place you are today.  Say goodbye of the shame from your past and hello to the new life God has in store for you.

True happiness is never gonna be found on the run; but, in true surrender to the will of God for your life.  "Thy will, not mine." Happiness is not a destination, it's a way of life.  It's a by-product of living the right kind of life, of doing the right things.  Instead of searching for happiness, search for right living and happiness will be your reward.  Life is sometimes a march of duty during dull, dark days; but, happiness will come again, as God smiles on you with recognition of your faithfulness.  True happiness is always the by-product of a life well lived.  Today, stop running from the things in your life that have haunted you and run to God, the only one who will ever be able to provide the greater peace, strength, serenity, fulfillment, healing, and happiness you are truly looking for in life.  The only one who will ever be able to take the bad of your life, and make something good out of it!

When you've done all you can do---Stand.

Have you ever been in a situation where you've gone the extra mile, been as kind and helpful as you know how, been selfless, encouraging and done your best to be a friend and then suddenly someone turns their back on you and walks out of your life for no apparent reason? It's times like this that often leave us hurting, feeling betrayed, angry, and if we're not careful struggling with a 'how could they attitude."

If there's one thing in my life I've learned it's when I've done all I can do---to stand. God will do the rest.

Today, I'm living the realization that people will fail you, let you down, talk about you, betray your trust & hurt you without a second thought or care; but, there is one who never fails, who sticks closer than a brother, who faithfulness shines through the dark clouds of betrayal & being used. God never fails.

Today I'm reminded when I put to much stock and trade in people & relationships, at some point I will be let down. God never fails. He will do for me what I can't; but, not what I can. When I've done all I can do & I have, I'll keep standing & leave the rest in God's hands.

Where's your compassion?

Compassion:  Sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.

We live in a busy world.  With Christmas Season quickly approaching the shopping malls, outlets, and retails centers are full of people grasping for those Christmas presents for family or friends.  Thanksgiving weekend when I was out shopping with Chelsey, Nick and J, I told Chelsey that I'd seen more angry looking people in one day than I'd since I've been living in Birmingham.

"As God's children, He places compassion within each one of us; but, it's up to use to decide whether we choose to open or close our heart to it.  The one thing that really keeps a heart of compassion open is to seriously think about the needs of others."

When is the last time you thought about the needs of others rather than yourself?  When is the last time, you tried to put yourself in the shoes of someone else, truly having sympathy and compassion for what they may be going through or what battles they may be facing?  Are you so focused in tunnel vision on your "stuff" that you couldn't see a tornado if it were coming at you?  It doesn't take long to look around and see someone whose situation technically is much worse than what your facing.  One who could use a little compassion, a little hope, a little sympathy, and see one you can help, even if it's nothing more than a kind word of hope and inspiration.  There may also be those God's placed in your life who are trying to be compassionate to you; but, you won't open your, mind and heart to accept it. Don't let pride and ego stand in the way of God placing someone in your life and using them to be a blessing to you!

Regardless of the situation, when I get out of myself to think about, encourage, or lend a hand selflessly to others, my own issues seem minimal, fade into the background and seem less severe.  I feel a little nearer to God in the process.  It works consistently every time without fail and it doesn't take a large budget.  You and I may not be able to solve world hunger or to do everything to solve the needs of others; but, together we can do something and make a difference---one random act of kindness at a time.

"May God make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do and grasp the immensity of the glorious way of life He has for you---the utter extravagance of His work in those who trust Him."

This Christmas Season and throughout the year may I always remember "It is only when I forget my problems and reach out to contribute something to others that I can begin to attain the serenity and God-consciousness I seek."  Today, show a little more compassion for others and find God showing a little more compassion for you!

Repetitive Self Inflicted Struggles

Are you experiencing pain as a result of repetitive struggles in your life?  Do you find yourself surrendering something to God one minute, and then taking it back in your own hands the next, incurring the pain that follows in doing things in your own self-will?  Are you living a life that you know deep within is less than God's best than the life He has planned for you?

"Since God didn't create us to live in bondage of any kind, we can experience liberty and the freedom to enjoy all that God has given and wants to give us.  He has given us life and life to be enjoyed and lived to the fullest---happy, joyous and free!"

How many times in my own life have I said "God I'm giving 'IT' to you---you got 'IT' " only to find myself picking "IT" back up and shouldering the weight of "IT" again and dealing with the consequences of doing it my own way or going it on my own.  Pain always ensues, and I've learned that pain is truly the "touchstone to spiritual progress".  After enough pain, I finally let "IT" go and fully leave "IT" to God to guide direct, and have His way---to bring healing where healing is needed, relief where relief is needed, direction where direction is needed, and to put the people, places, and things in and around me that are best for my life.

"TAKE ACTION FOR YOUR FREEDOM".  You don't have to live bound up and continue to make the same mistakes or poor choices or decisions in your life any more.  "Where the Spirit of the Lord is---there is Freedom."  God has better things in store for you life and desires them to be yours---now, immediately, this very moment!

Today, "FREEDOM IS YOURS, step out and take it!  Follow God's lead, not partially; but, wholly, and be free to enjoy all that God has for you as you start walking in the freedom and greater purpose He has for your life.  Enough is enough!  The choice is yours.  You can surrender to win, or continue to bear the brunt of the burdens inflicted by repetitively going against God's best for your life and living a life of bondage and self-inflicted pain.  Today, I'll take the action to be free and reap the benefits of having the load lifted from my shoulders, the pain from my life removed, and walk with a lighter load and some pep in my step as I walk into the greater things God has in store for my life!

Will your anchor hold?

None of us are guaranteed that life will never bring challenges our way.  We all from time to time experience things that can be so devastating that the situation can literally bring us to our knees.  What gets your through these times?  Where is the source of your HOPE?  What is the anchor that holds your life together when back to back challenges strike and you feel overwhelmed with emotions, grief or sorrow?

"Just as a ship has an anchor to help it hold steady, so is hope provided through our relationship with our Creator---the anchor to our soul.  During a storm, hope gives us the ability to look at things as they are and still be confident that something better is coming."  It gives assurance through faith that things are going to work out in someway and/or that good can somehow come out of bad.

I ask you today my friend, where is your hope based---the foundation?  Is it based on external things that can't withstand the storms life may bring or are you in strong standing with your Creator that if a storm hits you blindside today that your anchor will hold?  Is your relationship with Him so firmly anchored that you have confidence, without a shadow of a doubt, that you will be able to withstand the challenges that life may bring your way, today, tomorrow, or in the future?

Today, I'm grateful to know that my anchor holds, now, just as it has in the past.  Why?  Because I continue to work and grow in a solid relationship with my Creator daily.  It's a little to late to get centered spiritually in the midst of a life crisis or challenge that's hit unexpectedly; therefore, it's necessary for me to make sure that my faith is securely anchored in the Hope that comes in maintaining a relationship with Him each day.  Today, God and I are good.  He's got me and I can say with firm assurance that my anchor holds and will continue to no matter what the case may be---I'll be OK!

How motivated are you?

Motivation:  the general desire or willingness of someone to do something.

Often in life, we are motivated when we want something badly enough.  Whether a promotion, a new vehicle, a new job, a relationship, to get into better shape, whatever the case may be, when we want something badly enough, we tend to be motivated to do the work to get it.

How motivated are you to do the work to grow daily in your relationship with your Creator?   Out of the 24 hours in a day, how much time do you give Him to cultivate that relationship and move closer to the person He'd have you be and ultimately allow Him to guide you to the greater sense of purpose He has for your life?

"As you develop self-motivation and discipline to live for God and cultivate your relationship with Him, you will become all God created you to be."  Stay motivated, keep pressing forward growing in determination and don't loose heart or give up if things aren't happening as fast as you'd like or going the way you think they should.  There's a bigger plan!  Don't give up before the miracle happens.  Stay motivated and find the things that come to you, including the dreams God's placed within "when you place yourself in God's hands often better than you could have planned!"

Today, I'm reminded of all God's done for me.  What have I don't for Him lately?  How much time do I give Him daily?  I'll work to stay motivated and stay the course to continue growing daily in my relationship with Him and not lose heart.  In doing so I'll enjoy the many benefits that come in walking hand in hand with my Creator with a deeply ingrained sense of greater purpose He has for my life!

Yes, we live under God's grace, but God's grace is not an excuse to sin or act in old behaviors.  Grace is the power to live a Godly life, no matter what, as He would have you, which will take you to the better things and grandeur places He has in store for your life!

Walk out of your mess into Freedom!

Life brings challenges our way from time to time.  Most of the time, we'd rather not deal with them; but, often these challenges are defining moments or crossroads in our lives.  What we do with the challenge, and how we react, often determines our promotion to the next level of victory God has for us in our lives and the growth we'll receive walking through the process.

"People are born to be free.  It's a gift from God.  The question is, are you willing to go through whatever it takes to be free, or do you want to stay in the mess you're in for the rest of your life?  If you want to be free, the key is to start doing what God would have you to do, the next right things, one step at at time, and you'll eventually walk out of your messes into the happiness, joy and freedom He so desires for your life!"

"Instead of being ruled by emotions when confronted with problems, calm down, focus on doing what God would have you do.  If your upset about something instead of letting it ruin your life, turn it into something good.  Overcome evil and anger by praying for those who hurt, abuse, and use you.  Counter feelings of selfishness by doing something good for someone else (it works every time) !"

When the enemy or the challenges of life try to stir up your emotions, defeat or destroy you and steal your happiness, joy and freedom, calm down and do what God would have you to do.  In doing the next right God directed things, you can walk freely out of your messes and find them turned into a message!  "God can take every challenge that comes into our lives and use it for greater purpose.  Challenges test our character and help shape our faith!"  Today, will you stay in your mess, or will you, with God's help, walk out of the mess into the freedom God has so graciously and abundantly waiting and  in store for your life?  Today, I choose FREEDOM!

Where is your dependence today?  Are you dependent on others for your sense of well being, emotional sobriety and security?  Are you totally reliant on people and things external in lieu of God in an attempt to find security in your life? Do you get twisted up in a state of turmoil when something doesn't go your way or when you try; but, you realize that can't fix what's broken in someone's life---family or friends?  Do you jump from one romantic relationship to another thinking it's gonna be the perfect fix for the void in your life, only to be left jaded when once again it doesn't work out and now you have even more wreckage to deal with?  How do you feel when you simply don't get your way with someone, when others let you down, fail you, talk bad about you, have a negative opinion of you, or spitefully use you?

"When we developed still more, we discovered the best possible source of emotional stability to be God Himself.  We found that dependence upon His perfect justice, forgiveness, and love was healthy, and that it would work where nothing else would.  If we really depended upon God, we couldn't very well play God to our fellows nor would we feel the urge wholly to rely on human protection and care?"

Today, I'm reminded that there is only ONE true source of stability in my life, one who never fails, and one who doesn't always give me what I want; but, provides what I need and often more so much more---the best things for my life and for my overall good.  Today, step out on faith, take hold of the best source of emotional stability---God Himself.  Learn to depend on God not man and develop a true dependence on Him instead of external things that will fail you.  In doing so, find yourself walking in a new and profound freedom that will not only will lead you to God's best for your life; but, will release you from the bondage of dependence on man, ultimately free you from the opinions of others and leave you never feeling lonely again!  Thanks God---once again I get the memo!

Divine Appointments

A divine appointment:  the divine order of affairs; an appointment, arrangement, or favor by God.

Do you believe in divine appointments?  Do you believe that God is working on your behalf to bring to pass the things that press your forward into the greater purpose and destiny He has in store for your life?  Do you believe and trust that He can put the right people in your life at the right time and right place?  While some may call these coincidences, I've come to know them as God-incidences.  The more I grow in my relationship with my Creator and seek His best for my life, the more I experience His divine appointments.

"There are people God has placed in your life for a reason, to help you reach your destiny, your full potential and to lead you into the better things He has in store for your life.  They may have wisdom or advice that will thrust you forward in life.  These are divine appointments that have been orchestrated by God Almighty.  Divine appointments aren't always the people you would expect.  In fact, they are often the people you don't expect; but, God can use others to help fulfill the greater purpose He has for your life.  We should always be open to receive from others.  We should always treat everyone we encounter with dignity, honor, and respect.  You never know who God is going to use in your life and is placing there for greater purpose.  Be open, loving, kind, and sow good seeds that will open the doors for His divine appointments to take place in your life."

Today, are you open minded to the divine appointments God is placing in your life?  Are you working with God and His divine appointments or against God, running in self-will being involved in things you know are hindering His best for your life and doing it your own way?  Are you embracing His divine appointments and letting them take you to the greater places God has in store for your life, or are you running from them in fear, self-will, and a mentality of doing it your own way?  I'm reminded today that "the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in His way."  May I always be open to the divine appointments God is placing in my life and not take them for granted or mistake them as coincidences.  May I not run from them or miss them by living my life in self-will; but instead be on guard for them as they unfold and take full advantage of them to thrust me into the greater purpose God has in store for my life ultimately letting them serve God's greater intended purpose---for my greater good.

New mercies - fresh - each day!

Each day we open our eyes in the morning from sleep and realize God's given us another day. With an attitude of thankfulness, many of us thank God for another day, yet do we realize that we have new mercies available to us?  A fresh day, a fresh start, a chance to do life today a little better than before---to be a better version of ourselves than the day before.  God's grace didn't stop working the night before when we went to bed; but, continues and meets us fresh in the morning when we wake.

"Each day is a new opportunity to close the door on the past and experience a brand-new start.  Even the fact that God divided the days into 24 hours segments is evidence that we need to start over on a regular basis.  God willing, there is always a new day, a new month, and a new year; but, in order for us to make use of these new beginnings, we must make a decision to do so."

Are you living in the awareness that God's mercies and His Grace are new every morning?  The past is the past.  The present is a gift which is why it's called the "present".  If your bathing, soaking, loathing, wallowing and beating yourself up in self-pity due to shortcomings, failures or past mistakes, make good use of God's new mercies for you today.  Do your best to clean house with past mistakes, learning from the experience, and LET IT GO.  Don't let your self-confidence reside in others opinions of you for past mistakes, repetitive failures or their own negative opinions.  Your confidence and self-worth resides not in the opinion of man; but, in where you are today in your relationship with God, in this present moment, now, living under to covering of His Grace.  God didn't design us to live in the past; but to make the most of the present gift of today He's given us.

Today, I'll live in the awareness that I've been given new mercies and grace to face the day.  What's done is done.  What in the past is in the past.  I'll make the most of the present working to be who God would have me be today, each step of the way, and follow His lead.  I'll let today be a fresh start, realizing new mercies and grace are present, and look forward to what God has in store for today!

Your biggest fan.

We all know about being fans.  We are all fans of something or someone.  With college football season winding down, we've seen the rivalry between teams, and seen some pretty extreme fans.

Are you aware that God is your biggest fan?  He's there on the sidelines cheering you own.  He's there in the middle of the game of life to pick you up and cheer you on.  He's there to coach you through the ups and downs, twists and turns, celebrations and sorrows.  He's there to help you with the play of the game, plan of the day, and His overall plan for your life.  He's there to help you dust yourself off and to encourage you to try again if you fail.

I remember often how good it felt cheering my children on in their school activities as a parent.  I still cheer them on today!  I also remember as a child how good it felt to have mom, dad and my siblings in the stands doing the same for me.  Today, are you living in an awareness that God is there, not to beat you up, but to coach you through the twist and turns of life, to help you succeed, to help you make it to the finish line, to cheer to you---your biggest fan!

No matter what your going through, how many times you may have tried and failed, how many times you may have had to dust yourself off and try again; remember, God's not given up on you.  He's still there faithfully cheering you on, coaching you to help you move forward to the better things He has in store.  What better coach, fan, and cheering squad to have than our Creator, our Director --- Almighty God Himself?

Today, are you living in the awareness that He is your biggest fan?  Let this realization encourage you that with Him behind you, you can do all things He empowers you to do and you'll remain a winner and never go wrong as long as you follow His lead!

"I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you a future and a hope.  When you call on me, I'll listen.  When you come looking for me, you'll find me.  When you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed.  I'll turn things around for you."

Thanks God!

It is well !

"God wants to restore true confidence in you by healing the things in your past that have damaged the way you look at and feel about yourself. As you look at what is right with God instead of what's wrong with you, you'll begin to walk in the confidence that comes only from Him."

Are you letting your past mistakes, shortcomings, failures or past abuse or trauma define who your are today and keep you down on yourself---holding you back from God's best for you? God can make all things new. "The old has passed away & behold (in Him) all things have become new." He can bring good out of bad and make beauty for what seems like ashes!

Leave the past in the past and let true confidence come in knowing who you are with God today! You're living in God's grace, not in your past. You're not who you used to be and you're not defined by abuse, trauma, your past shortcoming and failures or the bad things that happened to you. Today let God bring freedom from your past and take you to the greater things He has in store for your life. Today with God---be a better you & find yourself saying "It is well" with my soul, my life, my past, my present, my future and moreover with me!

Impending doom or God's favor?

Today will you live in fear of impending doom or allow God to change your thinking, opening up your mind to the greater things he has in store & trust His favor, His timing, His goodness & His best for your life?

Today---impending doom or God's favor? I'll take God's favor!
